Parker Plastics Inc., a custom blow molder of plastic containers, is opening a new production facility in North Las Vegas, Nevada. The 70,000 square foot manufacturing plant will begin manufacturing PET bottles using reheat and blow processes in the 3rd quarter of 2015. Parker will offer custom bottles and its entire range of stock narrow neck PET containers out of this facility.
Nevada was chosen as the site for Parker’s West Coast operations due to the state’s favorable business climate and close proximity to key customers and markets in Northern and Southern California. The addition of this facility will allow Parker Plastics to serve existing customers and capitalize on new business opportunities in the Western United States with competitive prices and unmatched customer service.

Parker Plastics Inc., a custom blow molder of wholesale plastic bottles, announced the launch of a wide mouth PET container platform through the addition of two-stage, reheat and stretch blow molding machinery and enhanced technical capabilities. These new wide mouth PET capabilities allow Parker Plastics to provide PET jars and containers with neck finishes up to 130mm, in addition to its wide range of narrow neck PET, HDPE, LDPE and polypropylene rigid packaging solutions.
Parker Plastics’ wide mouth PET reheat and stretch blow molding capabilities make it one of the only custom blow molders in North America to offer non-spin-trimmed, blow molded wide mouth PET jars and containers. This wide mouth PET platform gives Parker Plastics the ability to offer low mold costs to its customers for the introduction of new, custom wide mouth PET containers. Parker’s new wide mouth PET platform also has heat-set capabilities for containers that will be hot-filled.
With this recent investment, Parker Plastics now offers custom wide mouth PET jars and containers with neck sizes ranging from 55mm to 130mm. In addition to custom wide mouth PET containers, Parker Plastics now offers a stock one gallon, 110mm wide mouth PET container. These wide mouth PET capabilities supplement Parker Plastics’ current custom and stock offering of PET, HDPE, LDPE and polypropylene rigid packaging solutions spanning all bottle and neck sizes.

HDPE is a low-cost material with an excellent balance between stiffness and toughness, over a wide temperature range. In its natural state, it is a translucent, milky white material. HDPE meets FDA requirements for direct food contact applications and is also accepted by the US Department of Agriculture (USDA), National Science Foundation (NSF), and the Canadian Department of Agriculture. HDPE bottles are lighter-weight than most alternative, non-plastic packages. HDPE is chlorine-free, requires fewer additives, and is easily recycled.
HDPE is widely used in extrusion-blow-mold containers for milk, household chemicals, automotive products and large drums of industrial chemicals. It has a higher abrasion and chemical resistance, resists strong acids and alkalis, and is less susceptible to surge shocks since it’s more flexible. Fabricated items may be cross-linked to further improve their resistance to chemical and physical use in such applications as chemical storage tanks.
HDPE consists of molecules that are essentially linear, with less than one branch per 200 carbon atoms in the backbone. Such linearity permits the development of translucence, which give them the highest modulus and lowest permeability of all the classes of polyethylene. This combination makes them suitable for large-scale liquid holders such as drums, tight head pails, and chemical storage tanks. On a smaller scale, a combination of toughness, low permeability, and high environmental stress crack resistance makes HDPE bottles best fit to contain household, industrial, and automotive chemicals such as liquid detergent, bleach, motor oil, and antifreeze.
HDPE is an excellent moisture barrier and is well-suited for packaging household cleaners. Good rigidity and stiffness make HDPE bottles the resin of choice for many household cleaners: ammonia bleach, scouring powders, detergents, dish-washing liquids, disinfectants, drain cleaners, fabric cleaners, oven cleaners, polishes, metal polishes, and stain repellents. They increase the convenience, safety, and delivery of a household cleaner to its application.
In the cooled and solid state, HDPE bottles have a memory, so even after they are squeezed or twisted they will tend to return to their original shapes. This makes them ideal for use as squeeze bottles in many custom configurations for liquid cleaners.
